Higher Promotion Officer
COURSE INFORMATION
The program is a credit-bearing skills-based occupational qualification, the Health Promotion Officer, 163 credits, pegged at
NQF level 3.
PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION
- Conduct basic assessments of communities, households, groups, and individuals.
- Provide basic health education.
- Make referrals to a wide range of services.
- Support health and social systems.
- Advocate for communities in relation to health and social issues
COURSE DETAILS
- Theory: 10 weeks.
- Practice: 16 weeks (Most of this will be in the simulation laboratory)
- Work experience: 15 weeks (Department of Health’s facilities such as Clinics,
rehabilitation centers, testing and counseling centers and NGOs, and private
sector facilities including old age homes)
